Watermark: Watermark: lower centre edge, tops of two letters, the first curved, the second straight:"C [or O?] I [or L? other letter possibilities]".
Inscription: Recto: upper centre, brown ink, crossed out: "opening the / new Academy"; right centre, brown ink: "look"; lower centre, brown ink: "The History of Art. / See Boseux" [sic for Batteux, author of Les Beaux Arts, 1747]. Verso: lower right corner, brown ink: cut off at right edge: "Sir J. Rey[...]".
Collector's mark: Verso: lower right corner, stamped in black: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
