The effects of alcohol are vigorously illustrated in this drawing, showing two weary peasants hunched over a table, a drinker raising his glass and a figure vomiting at the far right. The stout woman at the left, seemingly trying to lead her companion away from the drunken group, turns this image into a warning. The sober colours of grey and brown wash create a gloomy atmosphere, underlining the unpleasant aftermath of a previously jolly tavern night.
