Watermark: Watermark: upper centre edge, fragment of lower half of a coat of arms containing a wheel (?) above cursive letters in a cipher - likely "GR" (not found in Heawood or Churchill).

Inscription: Recto: lower left, graphite, illegible, possibly name of sitter: "Joshua [?]"; lower right, graphite, underlined twice but illegible. Verso: upper right corner, graphite: "5/"; upper right, graphite, erased and now illegible; left centre, graphite, among some light sketches (?): "03"; lower left, graphite: "90"; lower right corner, graphite, scribbled over so only first number visible: "6[...]".

Collector's mark: Verso: lower right corner, stamped in black: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
