Inscription: Recto: lower left edge, grey wash, signed and dated by the artist: “.C saft Leven 1658.”. Verso: upper left, graphite: “10”; lower right, brown ink: “i-ii-o”; lower left corner, graphite: “Hoofel / HA-O?-VXO //”; lower centre edge, graphite: “Saftleven”. Mount (removed, but still mounted with the drawing), Verso: upper centre, graphite, large: “Cornelis Saft-Leven / 1606-1661 (Ec. Hollandaise) //”; lower centre, graphite, Witt number: “1648”.
Collector's mark: Recto: stamped twice, at lower right within drawing, and at lower right edge (cut off when removed from mount, which can still be seen mounted with the drawing): Prince Wladimir Nikolaevitch Argoutinsky-Dolgoroukoff (L.2602d). Mount (removed, but still mounted with the drawing), Recto: lower left corner, stamped in black ink: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).
