Watermark: Watermark: Recto, upper centre: crowned shield containing a horn, above “VANDERLEY” (matches Heawood 2749, although chain lines in the sheet are further apart – dated 1740). Mount (removed, in portfolio from P&D): two lines of text in banners, the last being “AUVERGNE 1742” (see Heawood 3302-3309 – Paris, 1744-1768).

Inscription: Mount (removed, in curatorial file), Verso: upper left, graphite: “E - - - s”; lower right, blue ink: “S. Vouet “;lower right corner, graphite: “2/ E.H.”; lower left edge, graphite: “Domenichino”.
