This imaginary scene of remarkable freshness shows two young women sitting outdoors in the bright sun. The artist has arranged the figures so that the viewer, like the voyeuristic satyr, watches as if hidden behind nearby bushes. The drawing belongs to a group known as capricci which are thought to have been produced for the amusement of Guercino and his friends.
