Inscriptions

Watermark: Watermark: upper centre edge: “SNELGROVE / 1807”. Mount (historic), Verso: centre: Strasburg lily above cursive letters "PS" (not found in Churchill or Heawood, but "PS" likely for Phipps & Son). The mount was formed from two, possibly three pieces of laid paper laid atop one another, and so seen from the Recto, right centre, is visible another watermark in the mount: “PHIPPS & SON / 1809" and at centre is just visible “180[…]” from possibly a third sheet, as it is not aligned with the “1809” to its right.

Collector's mark: Mount (historic), Verso: lower right corner, stamped in black: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).

Inscription: Mount (historic), Recto: lower right corner, graphite: "2a". Mount (removed, see photo), Recto: lower right, graphite: "Thomas Monro / 1759-1833 / Coll. Earl of Essex".
