Inscriptions

Watermark: Watermark: none visible in the drawing sheet, though mount too thick to discern clearly. Mount (historic), Verso: centre: Strasburg lily above cursive letters "PS". The mount was formed from two pieces of laid paper laid atop one another, and so just above the watermark is a fainter impression of the same mark, upside down, which is showing through from the underlying sheet of laid paper used for the mount (mark not found in Churchill or Heawood, but "PS" likely for Phipps & Son, as watermark in mount of RW.1224 is Phipps & Son).

Collector's mark: Mount (historic), Verso: lower left corner, stamped in black: Sir Robert Witt (L.2228b).

Inscription: Mount (historic), Recto: lower right corner, graphite: "34". Mount (removed, see photo), Recto: lower right, graphite: "Thomas Monro / 1759-1833 / Coll. Earl of Essex".
