red chalk, pen and brown ink, brown wash on laid paper, the lower edge and upper right corner made up, laid down on an historic mount (with 1212-1213 and 1215); drawing on verso no longer visible so unsure of media but seems to be carbon-based (in contrast to bistre on recto) as the recto disappears and the verso appears under IR
