Inscription: Recto: lower right, black ink: 3 TvT; lower margin, black ink, ‘AVD’ in monogram: Ulÿsse s’estant embarquée avecques ses gens, espreuye sur mer la colère de neptune, qui par l’horribl[e- cut off] / meslange qu’il faict de vents et des vagues, expose sa flotte à la violence de la tempeste, et l’advertit par / ce changement inopiné, que les grands desseins ne sont jamais sans obstacles, qui toutefois ne / peuvent vaincre ceux qui les sçavent prevoir, et les combattre par leur constance. AVD [Ulysses aboard with his followers experiences Neptune’s anger at sea, which through a horrible mixture of wind and waves exposes his fleet to the violence of the storm and warns him through this unexpected change that great projects are never without obstacles, which all the same cannot vanquish those who can foresee them and confront them through their constancy.]
