Inscriptions

Watermark: centre: Strasburg lily (does not appear to be a '4' underneath; does appear to be a small letter, a 'V' or 'WR' monogram, but too obscured by media to see clearly). Historic support, verso, right centre: crowned shield containing fleur-de-lis (narrow shield with straight edges).

[Ulysses and Penelope, led to bed, are delighted to see one another again after such a long separation. The happiness of these lovers can help us judge their peers/counterparts: that all the pain they have suffered is changed into mutual pleasure on the recovery of the loved object.]
