This sober arrangement of a few flowers in a distinctive and prominent vase set against a patterned background is typical of her still-life painting in the immediate post-war period. The vase is placed on the kind of painted rush-seated chair she would have used at Charleston farmhouse in Sussex, where she and Duncan Grant went to live in 1916.  The shapes of chair-back and vase echo each other, and the bold design in the background repeats the outlines of the arum lilies."]}},{"label":{"none":["License"]},"value":{"none":["<a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc\/4.0\/\">BY-NC 4.0 Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0<\/a>"]}}],"items":[{"id":"https:\/\/gallerycollections.courtauld.ac.uk\/api\/iiif\/O2927\/canvas\/1","type":"Canvas","label":{"none":["P.1935.RF.25_c"]},"height":12743,"width":7597,"format":"image\/jpeg","items":[{"id":"https:\/\/gallerycollections.courtauld.ac.uk\/api\/iiif\/O2927\/canvas\/1\/page","type":"AnnotationPage","items":[{"id":"https:\/\/gallerycollections.courtauld.ac.uk\/api\/iiif\/O2927\/canvas\/1\/page\/annotation","type":"Annotation","motivation":"painting","target":"https:\/\/gallerycollections.courtauld.ac.uk\/api\/iiif\/O2927\/canvas\/1","body":{"id":"https:\/\/gallerycollections.courtauld.ac.uk\/iiif\/3\/88887\/full\/max\/0\/default.jpg","type":"Image","format":"image\/jpeg","height":12743,"width":7597}}]}]}]}
